Dr. Elizabeth Vella Caruana spent the early years of her life in Burlington Ontario. At the age of four, she moved with her family, to the island of Malta.
Her primary school years were at Our Lady Immaculate Conception School in Hamrun Malta and for secondary education she attended St. Theresa Junior Lyceum Mriehel Malta.
Following this she attended the Upper Sixth Form levels at Gan Frangisk Abela Junior College in Msida Malta.
Elizabeth and Stephen were married in 1998 and they love being parents to their two girls. Together they enjoy discovering the different roles of parenthood as the years go by. Like Stephen, she also enjoys a good sense of humor.
Dr. Elizabeth graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry, Malta Medical School, University of Malta in 2001 with excellence in restorative dentistry. She then returned to Ontario and graduated from the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, University of Western Ontario (UWO) in 2005. She was awarded the Dr. Kenneth F. Pownall award for academics at UWO.
Dr. Elizabeth feels very lucky to have been blessed with dedicated educators and mentors through her life. She has a great admiration for teachers and parents. She is a strong believer in the formative and inspirational role that family, friends and the community have on society.
She is a member of the Ontario Dental Association (ODA), the Burlington Dental Association (BDA) and the Royal College of Dental Surgeons (RCDSO). Dr. Elizabeth has completed many hours of continuing education and is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD) and a member of the International Team of Implantology (ITI)
She has been providing dental care in Waterdown since 2005. Dr. Vella Caruana loves oral health and works diligently with her team to help people achieve dental health goals.
Her favorite activities include reading, listening to music, hiking, swimming, canoeing, cycling, sewing and camping. Two of her favorite hiking trails are Booth’s Trail in Algonquin and Dundas Valley Conservation area. In the future she would like to also hike the Bruce trail.
